A Look Back at People and Events in the News : Those Rumors About ‘The Boss’ Are a Bust
Rocker Bruce Springsteen moving to Palos Verdes Estates? Only a rumor, not the truth, says real estate broker Betty Vokes, a 23-year veteran of the Peninsula property business.
Last December, there was a buzz on the Hill--especially among eager teens--that “The Boss” was buying a hilltop villa complete with tennis courts, a mini-ballroom and a view all the way to the Santa Monica Mountains.
But according to real estate people and other city observers, the place on Via la Cuesta identified as “the house” was on the market then and still is. The price tag is $2.7 million.
Vokes said there was still another rumor that Springsteen was planning to build a house next door to Palos Verdes Estates resident Lyle Alzado, an actor and former Los Angeles Raiders football star.
“I don’t know how these rumors get started,” she said.
