The Slaughter of Innocents

Share

Your editorial (Sept. 9), “The Horror Goes On,” correctly suggests that the terrorist invasion inside the synagogue in Turkey was aimed not at supporters of Israel but at Jews in general.

But even more to the point what happened in Istanbul is a pure example of anti-Semitism in 1986. The Holocaust occurred more than 40 years ago and yet Jews are still being singled out for extermination simply because they are Jews. In reality, this ugly deed had nothing to do with politics or with international relations. There can be no claim by extremist groups that this was done in the name of a national liberation movement. The victims had no chance of defending themselves while they were praying in their prayer shawls. This heinous act was perpetrated in the name of anti-Semitism, for no other reason than the simple hatred of Jews.

The inhuman attack upon innocent Jewish lives must be condemned by all. This dastardly deed is against everything that decent people stand for regardless of one’s race, religion, creed or nationality.
