The Bolivian government agreed to free imprisoned trade union leaders and modify its plans to streamline the mining industry in exchange for a return to work by miners and an end to a hunger strike by about 2,000 people throughout the country. Foreign Minister Guillermo Bedregal said that 64 political, trade union and student leaders detained when the government declared a state of siege Aug. 28 will be released beginning today.
