President Daniel Ortega of Nicaragua, on a four-day visit to Peking, said China has promised to give his country more than $20-million worth of food, consumer goods, tools and other kinds of aid. At a press conference, he declined to answer questions about whether he has persuaded China to sell or supply arms to his Sandinista regime. But he did say that as a result of China’s aid, “Nicaragua will have immediately available more resources to relieve the situation, which has been made more grave by the aggression of the United States.”
