Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega, currently visiting North Korea, said Nicaragua would boycott the 1988 Seoul Olympics unless North Korea is allowed to co-host the Summer Games.
Ortega issued the warning at a banquet hosted by North Korean President Kim Il Sung, the official (North) Korean Central News Agency reported.
“I declare that our Nicaragua will not participate in the Games if the co-hosting proposal of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea is not realized,” Ortega said in his speech.
Cuba had earlier expressed the same sentiment.
