Bernson Calls for Meeting of All 8 Valley Council Members

Los Angeles City Councilman Hal Bernson Tuesday sought to bring together the eight council members who will represent parts of the San Fernando Valley under redistricting.

Bernson sent a letter to the seven other members asking them to send a deputy to a luncheon he will hold Sept. 30 in Van Nuys to discuss “the possibility of forming an ongoing program to address specific issues that affect the Valley.”

Under the redistricting approved last week, Councilmen John Ferraro, Michael Woo and Zev Yaroslavsky, all of whom represent areas that are, for the most part, south of Mulholland Drive, have added sections of the Valley to their districts.

“These members added to our already existing five council representatives affords an excellent opportunity to have a more significant voice in City Hall on matters important to the San Fernando Valley,” Bernson said in his letter.

The other council members representing Valley areas are Bernson, Ernani Bernardi, Marvin Braude, Joy Picus and Joel Wachs.
