Frank Sinatra was awarded $450,000 from a Swiss clinic that told the National Enquirer that the singer had received “youth serum” injections of live sheep cells. Attorneys for the Clinic La Prairie of Montreux, Switzerland, walked out of Los Angeles Chief U.S. District Judge Manuel Real’s court claiming the United States had no jurisdiction in the case. Nonetheless, Real awarded Sinatra $350,000 for improper commercial use of his name and $100,000 in punitive damages. Sinatra, 70, sued the clinic and the supermarket tabloid’s over an Oct. 23, 1984, banner story.
