Protesters seeking removal of U.S. nuclear missiles have switched to a new tactic: They serenade the U.S. Army’s missile depot with music of classical composers Bach, Beethoven and Schubert.

The peace movement turned out 130 singers and musicians Monday for a concert staged in front of the gates of the Army depot as soldiers looked on from inside the tall fence.

Police took no action to remove the musicians who blocked the Mutlangen access road because they said the army had suspended all traffic to and from the atomic missile depot for the day.

The peace movement, which has maintained a protest contingent at Mutlangen ever since the first new missiles arrived in late 1982, last weekend kicked off what it has described as its autumn blockade of the tiny base.
