Alhambra : Hearings on General Plan
The first in a series of community meetings to explain proposed revisions in the city’s General Plan will be held at 7 tonight at the Martha Baldwin School, 900 S. Almansor St.
David Carmany, director of housing and community development, said the revisions, which are under study by the City Council and Planning Commission, would lower the city’s potential population from 120,000 in the current plan to 93,000 by reducing the number of apartments and condominiums permitted and by rezoning some areas. The revised plan also addresses such issues as parking, traffic, streets and parks.
Other community meetings, all at 7 p.m., are scheduled in the main library, 410 W. Main St., on Sept. 23; the Joslyn Center, 210 N. Chapel Ave., on Sept. 24; Granada Park gymnasium, 2000 W. Hellman Ave., on Sept. 25, and Granada Park branch library, 2037 Fremont Ave., on Sept. 30. The final meeting will be held at 2 p.m. Oct. 1 in the Joslyn Center.
