A new Brazilian-built plane bought by Atlantic Southeast Airlines of Atlanta, a U.S. commuter airline, slammed into a cliff on its delivery flight, killing all five people aboard, including three Americans, the plane’s manufacturer said. A spokesman for Embraer Co., maker of the 30-seat twin-prop airplane, said the plane took off from the company’s airfield at Sao Jose dos Campos, about 265 miles west of Rio de Janeiro, and crashed moments later. The Americans killed were identified as pilot Max Millican, co-pilot Larry McElwany and engineer Jay Murray, all employees of Atlantic Southeast Airlines.
