Notre Dame President Checks Out of Hospital

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Father Theodore M. Hesburgh, president of the University of Notre Dame, checked himself out of the hospital Sunday after spending the night under observation for a fainting spell.
Hesburgh, 69, was hospitalized in stable condition Saturday after fainting outside his hotel. He had attended the inauguration of Yale University’s new president, Benno C. Schmidt Jr., and had been among 60 university presidents who had joined Schmidt on a ceremonial march through city streets.
