Perceptronics Wins Extended Army Contract

Perceptronics announced a contract extension worth $9.9 million to continue developing for the Army simulators for training several hundred soldiers at a time to use tanks, armored vehicles and helicopters.
Under the agreement, Perceptronics will design and build four-person fiberglass simulators, to be operated at Fort Knox, Ky., and Fort Benning, Ga., as well as in West Germany. The original $57.8-million contract, awarded in March, is scheduled for completion in July, 1989, and the contract extension will enable Perceptronics to enhance the equipment.
The overall contract is expected to increase sales dramatically at the Woodland Hills-based company, which reported revenue of $29.0 million for the fiscal year ended March 31.
Perceptronics also reported it has been awarded three other contracts worth a total of about $3.5 million to develop robotics and artificial intelligence systems. The contracts are from Northrop Corp., the Army and the Navy.
