The Arkansas Supreme Court upheld the state’s anti-pornography law, refusing to overturn the convictions of a bookstore company and its manager for possession and promotion of obscene materials. The manager and the store’s owner had argued that the law was unconstitutional because it exempts movie theater employees but does not give equal protection to booksellers. But the high court said a book vendor can “actively promote the sale of a book or magazine” but “the theater employee has no similar opportunity.”
