Doctors have developed a new technique in which a laser is used to clear clogged arteries in the heart, a researcher said. The results of procedures completed on six patients look “very encouraging,” said Dr. Timothy Sanborn, associate director of the cardiovascular research laboratory at Boston University School of Medicine. The technique, known as laser thermal angioplasty, uses a tiny fiber optic thread to reach the blocked area.
