R.H. Estates : Bridle Trail Plan Delayed

Plans to build a bridle trail around the Metropolitan Water District’s Palos Verdes Reservoir were delayed this week when the City Council rejected the three bids for the trail as too high.

Last month, the council opened bidding and allocated $79,000 to build the trail using some volunteer labor, but the bids received ranged from $107,700 to $192,000. City Manager Ray Taylor said the high bids may have resulted from misunderstandings about the scope of the project.

He advised that the city reopen bidding and require interested contractors to attend a City Hall meeting and examine the trail site with city officials.
