One bank failed in Texas and another in Kansas.
The Comptroller of the Currency declared Heritage National Bank in Richardson, Tex., insolvent and appointed the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. as receiver. It was the 19th bank to fail this year in Texas. Kansas banking authorities declared that Home State Bank of LaCrosse, Kan., was insolvent and ordered it closed. It was the 12th to fail this year in Kansas. Both banks were to reopen today under new names and new management. The two closings brought the number of bank failures nationwide this year to 104.
