China and the Soviet Union agreed to resume negotiations next year over their disputed 4,350-mile common border, the official New China News Agency reported. The talks were suspended eight years ago. The agreement on resuming talks was reached by Chinese Foreign Minister Wu Xueqian and Soviet Foreign Minister Eduard A. Shevardnadze, who are attending the U.N. General Assembly session in New York. No exact date for the new talks was announced.
