South Korea has arrested 263,564 suspected criminals--one in every 150 of the population--in a three-month drive to tighten security for the Asian Games now under way in Seoul, police said. Those arrested include suspected robbers, pickpockets, rapists and murderers, police said. Officials formally charged 48,333, sentenced 76,312 to up to 29 days in jail and are questioning 16,004. The rest have been freed with admonition.
