5,000-Year-Old Temple, Tomb Found in China
Most Chinese archeologists believe that their civilization can be traced back 5,000 years, or about 10 centuries earlier than commonly thought, the Xinhua news agency reported.
That conclusion is based on the recent discovery of a 5,000-year-old temple and tomb complex in Liaoning Province, according to the official news agency.
“The discovery in Liaoning sheds light on the impact of the ancient cultures of north and northeast China on the origin of the country’s civilization,” one archeologist said.
The new find in the northeast consists of a sacrificial altar, a temple to a goddess and stone tombs estimated to be about 5,000 years old.
