Los Angeles Street Scene

The L.A. Street Scene, an event that should help us celebrate the diversity and unity that exists in our great city, is punctuated with episodes of stabbings, a shooting, police and horses injured and many arrests.
A surfing tournament in Huntington Beach that should be just a fun summer event turns into an angry rock and bottle-throwing melee.
The Fourth of July, when we should gladly join to celebrate American freedoms, is so marred by incidents of violence and vandalism that Santa Monica may never have another fireworks show.
The present generation may be the last to know about community happenings that should happily bring us together, proudly draw us in. How incredibly sad that because of a small, but steadily increasing, number of violent individuals, many events that we have known and enjoyed will just cease to be.
