Los Angeles Street Scene

As a member of one of the bands that performed (or attempted to) at the Street Scene on Sunday evening , I’d like to speak in favor of Mayor Bradley’s recommendation to discontinue the annual event.

Our band faced extremely adverse conditions while trying to set up and play on the stage in front of City Hall, including witnessing a man get cold-cocked and knocked out by another guy who wanted his beer. When we did play, we had to cut our set short because of the beer cups being thrown on stage, with no law enforcement in sight. So much for participating in a display of civic pride.

The ban on alcohol sales would have to be the first obvious suggestion, but I doubt that even that would have much impact on all those people that were going so far out of their way to be rude, anti-social idiots.
