Implications in Rabbi’s Article

Rabbi Cooper’s article stated that “a hatred of Jews and Judaism has entered the mainstream of contemporary Arab and Islamic life.” This irresponsible and unsupported statement is completely errant and astonishing because individual incidents by Arabs cannot justify making a general statement about Islam.

The Jewish Defense League is an active organization in the United States; is it rational to consider every Jew in Morocco as a member of the JDL? Will every inoffensive Jew in Ethiopia be held responsible for JDL actions? Rabbi Cooper’s statement demonstrated a clear instance of over-generalizing and a poor understanding of the noble human behavior of Islam.
