Several Reported Dead in Soviet Cloister Fire

MOSCOW — Several people died when fire broke out at the 14th Century Zagorsk monastery outside Moscow, a major center of Russian Orthodoxy, Tass news agency reported Monday.
It said the fire occurred in the seminary building of the Trinity and St. Sergei Monastery on Sunday night, causing some “loss of life” but no damage to the religious center.
