The experimental Voyager round-the-world airplane made an emergency landing today after one of its two propellers broke and fuel fumes entered the cockpit during a test flight.

The lightweight plane and its two pilots landed safely at Edwards Air Force Base in the Mojave Desert about 11:30 a.m., spokesman Lee Herron said. He could provide no further information on the breakdown or on how long it might take to get the plane ready for a planned attempt at history’s first flight around the world without refueling.
