Led by significant financial improvement in its specialty hospitals unit, National Medical Enterprises reported that revenue and earnings rose for the first quarter ended Aug. 31. With all operating units contributing to revenue growth in the quarter, revenue increased 25% to $1 billion, from $806 million a year ago. Net income increased 4% to $36.2 million, compared to $34.8 million the previous year.
