World Airways signed a $51-million contract.

In its first major move since it terminated scheduled flights two weeks ago, the Oakland-based company agreed to provide military airlift services. The one-year contract calls for World to team with Federal Express to provide airlift services and to have its fleet of five planes available for the U.S. Military Airlift Command in a national emergency.
