No Oriental fruit flies have been found in the past 10 days, signaling an apparent end to what agriculture officials in two counties thought might have been the start of an infestation. Baiting for the pests, which lay eggs in 150 fruits and vegetables grown in California, is continuing in Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties, but officials are optimistic that finds during the past month were isolated incidents.
