The increases in suggested retail prices are lower on the No. 2 auto maker’s small, more fuel-efficient vehicles than on the larger models, Ford said. For example, the price of the Escort Pony three-door will rise $68 to $6,586, an increase of 1.1%, while the Lincoln Town Car will go up $894 to $22,837, a 4.1% jump. Ford said its cars will remain competitive, even with the price hikes, and said packages on a number of ‘87s will come with standard air conditioning, tilt steering wheel and tinted glass. Most of the cars go on sale Oct. 9.
