A Stanford University advisory committee recommended that the school sell $570,000 worth of stock in New York-based Gray Advertising because of alleged “polite stonewalling” when asked about business activities in South Africa. The Commission on Investment Responsibility, made up of faculty, students, alumni and staff, said the advertising company had not responded to requests for information about its operations in South Africa.
