Iran Reports 150 Iraqi Casualties in Shelling
Iranian Revolutionary Guards killed or wounded 150 Iraqi troops with artillery shelling near the Majnoon Islands in southern Iraq, Tehran radio reported Thursday.
It said seven tanks, two ammunition dumps and a fuel storage tank were set ablaze in the shelling Wednesday.
Thirty-five battalions of volunteer forces left for war fronts Thursday from the Caspian Sea provinces of Mazandaran and Gilan, the radio said, and a battalion of Iraqis opposed to the Baghdad government left the western Iranian province of Ilam to join Iranian troops at the fronts.
