CALIFORNIA - News from Oct. 5, 1986

Irwin Federman, president and chief executive of Monolithic Memories Inc., has been named chairman of the Semiconductor Industry Assn., headquartered in San Jose. His predecessor, Gary L. Tooker, was recently promoted to senior executiive vice president and chief corporate staff officer of Motorola Inc. James A. Norling, a Motorola executive vice president, will take Tooker’s seat on the association’s board.

Andrew Procassini continues as president of the trade group.
