Performing Arts Center

I moved to Orange County in 1965 to join the fine arts staff at UC Irvine for its inaugural year. The musical life here was dominated by the county Philharmonic Society and smaller performing organizations, the Master Chorale being among them. Now 21 years later, in the middle of a seething cultural explosion, there is a rich musical life supported by many and varied performing groups at a professional and semi-professional level.

Three years ago I moved to Costa Mesa to be near the Performing Arts Center. Costa Mesa provides me with the elements I require for a full life: business opportunities, culture, shopping, restaurants, entertainment and an energy not unlike a larger metropolitan area. I wholeheartedly welcome the growth and development of this community. Only several weeks ago the Chamber of Commerce’s sponsored event--the Arts on the Green festival--offered free to citizens a unique experience in live entertainment. Master Chorale was privileged to perform--a joyous occasion for me as a citizen.

I am grateful to the major corporations in the private sector, in conjunction with the City Council and Chamber of Commerce, for bringing the fabulous Center for Performing Arts to Costa Mesa. Congratulations!
