Iran said 27 workers were killed in Iraqi air raids in the southern province of Khuzistan and vowed to respond with artillery strikes against economic and military installations in Iraq. The Iranian news agency IRNA said artillery would shell targets in Basra and Khanaqin for 48 hours starting today. Iraq said its warplanes had attacked Iranian sugar and paper factories in the southwestern town of Dezful.
