Justice Department sources confirmed that the FBI will try to find out who leaked a White House memo proposing a campaign of “disinformation” designed to deceive Libyan leader Moammar Kadafi. The leaked memo resulted in what Reagan Administration officials conceded were generally accurate news reports about a White House plan to spread inaccurate reports about Kadafi’s regime. Administration officials conceded that the memo was written by President Reagan’s national security adviser but denied that officials misled American reporters.
