Why all the publicity about low interest and no-interest auto financing? I’ve been enjoying that deal for years by paying cash.

It’s possible but not easy. How? It takes a few years of forgoing immediate pleasure by traveling by public transportation, riding a bike, or car pooling. It wasn’t too long before I could afford a reasonably priced used car, without unneeded extras such as luxurious interior, high-performance engine and custom styling.

This all had obvious disadvantages, but my interest payments have been zero over the years.
