Chronicle Publishing purchased 15 newspapers.
The parent company of the San Francisco Chronicle announced an agreement in principle to acquire the Worcester Telegram & Gazette Co. papers in Worcester, Mass. Included in the sale are the Morning Telegram, with about 60,000 subscribers, and the afternoon Gazette, which has a circulation of about 80,000. In addition, the agreement with Chronicle Publishing Co. includes three smaller dailies in neighboring counties in central Massachusetts and 10 weekly papers in Middlesex County. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
