Orion Pictures of Los Angeles announced that its net income for the second quarter ended Aug. 31 was $3.37 million on revenue of $73.92 million, compared to a net loss of $5.89 million on revenue of $42.36 million during the same period last year. For the six months, the company’s net income was $5.09 million on revenue of $136.5 million. In the prior year, the firm posted a net loss of $3.25 million on revenue of $107.28 million. The company said that the substantial increases in revenue and profit for the quarter was principally the result of the success of the film, “Back to School,” which was released in June and to date has grossed more than $87 million domestically.
