Raytheon said its earnings increased 6.5% and and sales increased 9.6% during the third quarter of 1986. Earnings rose to $101.5 million on sales of $1.714 billion. In the same period last year, earnings were $95.3 million on sales of $1.564 billion. For the nine-month period, The firm’s earnings were $293.6 million on sales of $5.267 billion. This compares to last year’s earnings of $277.2 million on sales of $4.696 billion. Raytheon’s largest business segment, electronics, continued to make the greatest contribution to the company’s growth in the third quarter, with defense electronics systems again performing strongly.
