The U.S. Public Health Service has awarded a $1.5-million contract to a New York health group to operate an expanded version of the government’s AIDS information hot line. The new hot line, operated by the American Social Health Assn., will provide 24-hour, seven-day-a-week service with both prerecorded messages and live operators starting in mid-December. The toll-free line will be available in 50 states and Puerto Rico and will offer referrals for treatment and counseling.
