The Nation : 10 Held in Seafood Thefts
FBI agents and police arrested 10 men as they unloaded hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of seafood allegedly stolen during two hijackings last week. A detective in the Miami suburb of Medley said warehouse employees tipped police that frozen seafood was being unloaded from a rental truck. Seafood hijackings are so common that some trucking companies forbid drivers to stay overnight in the Miami area and order them to call in frequently, the Miami Herald reported. A security consultant said thefts of lobster and shrimp from freezer trucks total about $2 million a year in South Florida.
