A prep school graduate accused of strangling his girlfriend in New York’s Central Park was charged with committing three penthouse burglaries for money to support his cocaine habit. Robert Chambers, 20, was charged with stealing more than $70,000 in goods, including furs and jewelry, during burglaries in 1985 of three apartments in Manhattan. Chambers has been accused of second-degree murder in the strangulation death of Jennifer Dawn Levin, 18, on Aug. 26. He admitted killing her but said the death occurred accidentally.
