A Mozambique-bound plane crashed in South Africa and there were unconfirmed reports that Mozambique President Samora Machel may have been aboard. The Mozambique News Agency (AIM) in Maputo reported it had received reports that the plane was bringing Machel home from a meeting in Zambia. South African Foreign Minister Pik Botha said there were 38 people aboard the plane and only four confirmed survivors.
