Martin Marietta Corp. of Bethesda, Md., said its net earnings and sales for the third quarter were up over last year’s same period. For the nine-months, sales rose, but earnings declined. The third-quarter results were attributed to improved earnings in aerospace and materials that more than offset continuing substantial investment in new business development.
