It won’t be a daily occurrence, but the state Department of Insurance opened its new toll-free consumer hot-line with Commissioner Roxani Gillespie fielding some of the calls. The number is 800-233-9045. “Consumers now have toll-free access to our department for general insurance information or to register complaints regarding insurance-related matters,” Gillespie said. The line, staffed by nine people, will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
