6 Italians Allowed to Leave Libya After Delay

ROME —
Libyan officials allowed six Italian workers to return home Monday, three months after withholding their passports when their company went bankrupt, the Foreign Ministry said.
“Our firm abandoned us,” one of the six, Giuseppe Puliga, told reporters upon arrival at Leonardo da Vinci Airport. “If it wasn’t for the Italian Consulate, we wouldn’t even have had the money to buy food,” Puliga said.
Libyan authorities returned the workers’ passports after the company agreed to pay overdue taxes.
