3rd-Quarter Income Sets Record for Micro D Inc.

Micro D Inc. said third-quarter net income was a record $674,000 contrasted with a net loss of $632,000 for the comparable period a year earlier.

The Santa Ana-based distributor of microcomputer hardware and software said sales for the quarter totaled a record $56.4 million, contrasted with sales of $27.4 million for the same period a year ago.

“We know we have taken substantial market share from every major microcomputer distributor,” said Linwood Lacy Jr., chairman and chief executive. He said the company is now the leading domestic distributor of microcomputer equipment.

For the nine months, Micro D reported net income of $1.8 million on sales of $145.8 million, contrasted with a net loss of $1.3 million on sales of $75.2 million for the same period a year ago.
