Medical Library Computer Kudos

I read with great interest the article in the View section about the National Library of Medicine and its extensive medical-information computer system and research library (“Electronic Library Puts a World of Information at Doctors’ Fingertips” by Betty Cuniberti, Oct. 14).

Another important part of what makes the National Library of Medicine the most admired and studied system of medical information in the world is the training program offered by the National Library of Medicine to health professionals through its Regional Medical Library program.

The Pacific Southwest Regional Medical Library Service, affiliated with the National Library of Medicine and located at the UCLA Biomedical Library since 1969, coordinates on-line training programs for doctors, nurses and other health professionals in the Western United States on how to use the National Library of Medicine’s computer system to get critical medical research information quickly and easily. We also help to coordinate delivery of medical information (books and journals) to health professionals from the extensive medical library collections in the Southwest United States and the Pacific Basin.
