An Iranian artillery attack on the Iraqi port of Basra killed 14 people, injured 66 and destroyed or damaged 26 houses, five shops and a school, an Iraqi military communique said. Iran had said it would shell industrial and economic targets in Basra in retaliation for two days of air attacks on the refinery city of Bakhtaran. Iran said 32 people were killed in the raids on Bakhtaran, 75 miles from the Iraqi border.
