Two dozen U.S. Embassy staff members and their dependents were believed involved in the recent evacuation of the already scaled-down mission in Beirut, Lebanese Foreign Ministry sources said. The sources said U.S. military helicopters had flown 24 non-essential staff members and families to Cyprus from the embassy in Christian East Beirut since last Wednesday. U.S. Ambassador John Kelly remains in Lebanon.
