South Korean students protesting the arrests of 1,200 anti-government demonstrators hurled firebombs at hundreds of riot police, who retaliated with tear gas. There were no immediate reports of injuries. The protests at Yonsei University in Seoul were triggered by the arrests of 1,200 students at Konkuk University on Friday, when police assaulted five buildings to end a four-day occupation by students calling for the ouster of President Chun Doo Hwan and the withdrawal of U.S. troops.
